PERSPECTIVES OF CLOSER LITHUANIAN-CANADIAN COOPERATION WERE DISCUSSED IN OTTAWA
On 21-22 September a delegation led by Undersecretary of Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Oskaras Jusys held bilateral consultations with representatives of Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade and discussed important issues of Lithuanian-Canadian relations and prospects of cooperation in international democracy development and assistance projects.
In the meetings with Assistant Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Canada Keith Krisitie, and General Director of European States Department Tom Macdonald such issues as the UN reforms and cooperation in multilateral relations sphere were considered.
In the meeting with Assistant Deputy Minister of Citizenship and Immigration of Canada Malcolm Brown Undersecretary of Lithuanian Foreign Ministry Oskaras Jusys addressed lifting the visa regime for Lithuanian citizens.
In the meeting with Vice-President of Canadian International Development Agency Gilles Rivard Lithuanian-Canadian development cooperation under the Programme of Official Development Assistance in Central Europe was discussed, the question of Lithuania’s as a donor participation in international assistance projects was considered.
