PARTICIPANTS OF MILLENNIUM ODYSSEY WILL BECOME LITHUANIAN AMBASSADORS FROM URUGUAY TO AUSTRALIA

On 28 August, project ‘Millennium Odyssey. One Name: Lithuania’ was presented at the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. President of the Yachting Union of Lithuania Robertas Dargis, Chairman of the Board of the Yachting Club Ambersail Raimundas Daubaras and its President Paulius Kovas presented the project to Minister of Foreign Affairs Petras Vaitiekūnas. ‘I am very glad that there are so many courageous men and women in Lithuania, who are ready to sail around the Earth, making the name of Lithuania famous and summoning Lithuanians in all the continents of the world,’ said Foreign Minister P.Vaitiekūnas.

Minister indicated that Lithuania’s diplomatic service would help the yachtsmen to solve the issues of organisation, such as obtaining entry visas, and will come to welcome the yachtsmen at the sea ports abroad together with the Lithuanian community and foreign media.

‘Lithuania’s diplomatic service is ready to provide all the necessary assistance to proclaim the name of Lithuania and this Millennium Odyssey all around the world’ said the head of Lithuanian diplomacy.

According to P.Vaitiekūnas, this campaign will not only bolster up the importance of our country in the eyes of the world. The world will get to know Lithuania better and to asses it more positively, the campaign will also allow to deepen economic relations or to attract investment, the Minister noted. The crew of yachtsmen will be comprised of businessmen, artists and people in culture. Therefore, it is possible to anticipate versatile benefits for Lithuania.

‘Participants of Millennium Odyssey are excellent assistants to Lithuanian Ambassadors, who are residing all over the world. During this campaign, the best Lithuanian yachtsmen will become Lithuanian Ambassadors from Uruguay to Australia,’ said the head of Lithuanian diplomacy.
