OSCE CHAIRPERSON TO VISIT MOSCOW, DISCUSS PROTRACTED CONFLICTS, TRANSNATIONAL THREATS, MEDIA FREEDOM
VILNIUS, 31 January 2011 – OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Audronius Ažubalis will visit Moscow from 1 to 3 February to discuss with the Russian authorities the follow-up to the Astana OSCE Summit and the Chairmanship’s priorities, including protracted conflicts, transnational threats, energy security and media freedom, ways to strengthen OSCE.
Upon arrival to Domodedovo airport on 1 February, Ažubalis will lay a Condolence Wreath in the hall where the terrorist attack took place on 24 January.During his visit, Ažubalis will meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, the Head of the Duma’s International Affairs Committee Konstantin Kosachev, the Chairperson of the Human Rights Council of the Russian Federation Mikhail Fedotov and Human Rights Ombudsman of the Russian Federation Vladimir Lukin, as well as with representatives of the civil society, think-tanks and media.
Ažubalis will give a joint news conference with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Wednesday, 2 February, at 12:00. Advance media registration is mandatory.
