OPEN HOUSE DAY AT THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE REPUBLIC OF LITHUANIA
On 18 April 2008, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania invites everybody to participate in the European Open House Festival. During the festival, teachers, schoolchildren and students and citizens of Vilnius and other cities and towns of Lithuania are invited to visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and get familiarized with the peculiarities of the work of Lithuanian diplomacy. The agenda of the event includes an excursion around the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, lectures on public diplomacy and Lithuania in the European Union, and a quiz on topics related to the European Union. Guests will also be given an opportunity to meet the management of the ministry.
After the excursion, those who visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be offered the possibility to visit several embassies of the EU member states. Registration and transportation from the headquarters of the Ministry (J. Tumo-Vaižganto St. 2) to the diplomatic representations will be organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Participants in the European Open House Festival will also have the possibility to visit the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, Chancellor’s Office, the Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Transport, the Representation of the European Commission in Lithuania, the European Parliament Information Office, and diplomatic representations of the EU member states. This year, the representations of Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Romania and Sweden will be open to the public.
The aim of the European Open House Festival is to open the doors of public institutions and diplomatic representations to all citizens and guests of Vilnius, to tell about the European activities of these institutions, and to share the traditions and cultures of the EU member states.
