ON THE OCCASION OF THE DAY OF THE STATE, LITHUANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER WISHES WORLD LITHUANIANS TO CHERISH THEIR IDENTITY, HISTORICAL MEMORY AND CULTURE
On the occasion of the Day of the State (Coronation of the Lithuanian King Mindaugas), Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis wishes world Lithuanians to cherish their Lithuanian identity, our common historical memory and culture.
“I sincerely wish that also this year when singing the national anthem around the world on the 6th of July, we could strengthen our faith and commitment to uphold the Lithuanian identity, common historical memory and the Lithuanian culture, so that this one of the most important dates of our long history would always be a source of resilience and the backbone, strengthening our national awareness and civil consciousness,” - the Minister’s congratulatory letter reads.A.Ažubalis stressed that this year the Day of the State was celebrated at a special time, as Lithuania was chairing the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Vilnius became the meeting place for the leaders of the Community of Democracies and the world’s most influential women, and the World Lithuanian Symposium on Arts and Sciences, and the Lithuanian World Economic Forum had recently taken place.
“All this is part of today’s Lithuania, the country that fosters its centuries-old tradition of statehood, the Lithuanian language and traditions, and is also a rapidly changing, modern state, a respectable member of the international community, the country that we all can and have to take pride in,” - the Minister’s congratulatory letter to world Lithuanians reads.
