ON THE EVE OF LITHUANIA’S MILLENNIUM, EMPLOYEES OF THE DIPLOMATIC SERVICE RECEIVE ANNIVERSARY BADGES
As the celebrations of Lithuania’s millennium are approaching, members of Lithuania’s diplomatic service pinned up special anniversary badges on the lapels of their jackets. “It has been a millennium, since the first records were made in the historical annals thus marking a significant step of Lithuania towards the Western civilization. Millennial history of our country commits every single one of us to promote Lithuania’s name, to tell our history to the society of the world, and to spread our traditions, culture and language”, said Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs V.Ušackas.
Minister V.Ušackas invited employees of the diplomatic service to symbolically wear the badges of Lithuania’s Millennium all the year of the anniversary and, in this way, to remind about this honourable date.
“Let’s summon up all our strength and talents, so that Lithuania prospers,” invited head of Lithuania’s diplomacy.
Designer of the symbol of Lithuania’s Millennium, artist Ilona Kukenytė, created it in 1998.
