On Lithuania’s initiative, UN Security Council condemns attack against civilians in Donbass
As proposed by the Permanent Mission of Lithuania to the United Nations, on 13 January the UN Security Council condemned the shelling of a passenger bus in Volnovakha, Donbass. The Security Council adopted a statement stressing the need for an objective investigation and for bringing the perpetrators to justice.
The Security Council also stressed the need to strictly monitor the implementation of the Minsk Protocol and the Minsk Memorandum.
11 civilians were killed while 17 more were injured. Women and children were among those killed and injured in the attack. Members of the Security Council expressed sincere condolences to the families of the victims.
