Nordic and Baltic countries make regional security a priority, says Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister

At the meeting of the Foreign Ministries’ State Secretaries of the Nordic and Baltic countries (NB8) on 20-21 October, in Tallinn, Estonia, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Neris Germanas called on the Nordic and Baltic countries to provide full support for Ukraine.

“Ukraine needs urgent humanitarian, technical, financial and military assistance. We also encourage Ukraine to implement all the needed reforms to stabilize Ukraine’s economy and to ensure sustainable development,” said N. Germanas.

Development perspectives of other Eastern Partnership countries, regional security and energy issues, the situation in Syria and Iraq, complicated by the Islamic State terror group activity, were also discussed at the meeting. Participants stressed that aiming to solve international challenges, the international community must be united and make every effort to stop the threat of conflict and terrorism both in the Middle East and in Europe.
