Nordic and Baltic countries discuss cooperation plans in Copenhagen
On 19-20 October in Copenhagen, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Neris Germanas attended a meeting of State Secretaries of the Foreign Ministries’ of the countries of the Nordic Baltic Eight (NB8) in Copenhagen. The annual meeting focused on NB8 cooperation plans for 2016, the Eastern Partnership, energy security and other important issues.
According to Germanas, this year the Nordic and Baltic countries implement a number of new initiatives, aimed at securing the countries’ joint response to security challenges facing the region, as well as challenges in the fields of energy and strategic communications.
Participants of the NB8 meeting were also acquainted with an interim report on NB8 activities, which was drafted by Denmark and gives an overview of the Nordic-Baltic cooperation in 2015.
Denmark coordinates the NB8 activities this year. In 2016, Latvia will take over the coordination of the agenda of this informal cooperation initiative that was launched in 1992.
