NEW LITHUANIAN HONORARY CONSUL TOOK OFFICE IN SWITZERLAND

On 30 October Michel Sogny started his duties as a new Lithuanian Honorary Consul in Geneva, Switzerland. M.Sogny is appointed to exercise consular functions in the consular district of the Canton of Geneva and the Canton of Vaud. M.Sogny is a pianist, composer and holds a Ph. D. In 1980 he established his own piano school and opened M.Sogny academy in Paris. In 2001 he founded the SOS Talents Foundation of M.Sogny.

In 2006 M.Sogny visited Lithuania and invited seven finalists of Balys Dvarionas contest for young pianists to attend mastery classes at his academy, he also funded their stipends from the SOS Talents Foundation.

In 1986 in New York, the United Nations honoured M.Sogny with the peace medal. In 1994 UNESCO awarded him an honorary diploma dedicated to the International Year of Family.
