NEW LITHUANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER CONGRATULATED BY NATO SECRETARY GENERAL
Lithuania’s new Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius received congratulations letter from NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen. NATO Secretary General congratulates Linkevičius on his new position and wishes him every success in carrying out his new mission.
NATO Secretary General said that the newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs Linkevičius was well aware of NATO issues and that he valued greatly the new Minister’s commitment to NATO during his time in Brussels as Permanent Representative.
Fogh Rasmussen wrote in his congratulations letter: “Lithuania’s contribution is of significant value. Your country has established itself as a steadfast and reliable Ally – due in no small part to your personal efforts.”
From 2005 to 2011, Linkevičius was Permanent Representative of Lithuania on the North Atlantic Council. He served as Ambassador, Head of the Lithuanian Mission to NATO from 1997 to 2000.
