NEW HONORARY CONSUL STARTED WORK IN THE UNITED KINGDOM
On 13 May Lithuanian Consulate headed by Honorary Consul John Carr‑Ellison was opened in Newcastle in North East England. J. Carr‑Ellison is appointed to perform consular functions in consular district of North East England. Lithuanian Ambassador to the United Kingdom Vygaudas Ušackas and Lord Mayor of Newcastle Peter John Arnold took part in the Consulate opening celebration.
On during the events that took place on 13-14 May Ambassador V. Ušackas invited Lithuanian citizens, who organize a new community, to register for October 12 elections to Lithuanian Seimas, and contribute actively to Lithuanian Embassy’s and the Honorary Consul’s efforts to establish a separate polling-station in North East England.
The core of the new Lithuanian community are young people studying in the region’s universities. These days they organized a presentation of Lithuania’s pictures and videos in the University of Newcastle.
During the meetings in Newcastle City Council and “Northern Counties” business club Ambassador V. Ušackas discussed perspectives of development of bilateral economic, academic and cultural ties, possibilities to increase cooperation between North Tyneside and Klaipeda ports were also considered.
Lithuanian Honorary Consul J.Carr-Ellison is a representative of large stock-breeding business in the United Kingdom. From 1995 he successfully develops investment projects in Lithuania’s, Latvia’s and Estonia’s agriculture.
