NEW DEPUTY FOREIGN MINISTER APPOINTED

On 7 January 2002, Ambassador Justas Vincas Paleckis was appointed a deputy foreign minister. His area of responsibility includes liaising with the Seimas (Parliament) and supervising the relations with the world Jewish communities as well as the Holocaust and Jewish cultural heritage issues. He is the fifth deputy minister of the MFA. In 1993-1996, Justas Vincas Paleckis was foreign policy advisor to the President of Lithuania. In 1996-2001 he served as Ambassador of Lithuania to the United Kingdom and Ireland.
