On 23 October the International Commission for the Evaluation of the Crimes of the Nazi and Soviet Occupation Regimes in Lithuania (hereafter International Commission for Historical Justice) presented six books on crimes of totalitarian regimes in Lithuania in Vilnius Picture gallery.

The books “Occupation and Annexation“, „Terror and Crimes against Humanity“, „Occupants and Collaborators”, “The Preconditions for the Holocaust: Anti-Semitism in Lithuania”, “The Persecution and Mass Murder of Lithuanian Jews during Summer and Fall of 1941”, “Murders of Prisoners of War and of Civilian Population in Lithuania in 1941-1944” contain findings of international experts about the Nazi and Soviet occupations of Lithuania.  These are results of detailed historical researches of Lithuanian and foreign experts. The books also contain a lot of interesting archive documents, the biggest part of which is published for the first time. All books are published in two languages – Lithuanian and English.

During the event the general public and foreign diplomats were acquainted with several years work and findings of the International Commission for Historical Justice.

At the presentation of the books, organized by the International Commission for Historical Justice together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, works of Giedrius Kuprevičius and Henryk Wieniawski were played by pianist Šviesė Čepliauskaitė and violinist Dainius Puodžiukas.

The International Commission for Historical Justice was formed in 1998 by the Decree of the President of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus.
