NATO INVITES LITHUANIA TO JOIN ALLIANCE

On 21 November at the session of the North Atlantic Council in Prague, Secretary General of NATO, Lord Robertson announced that Heads of State and Government of NATO had invited Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia to start accession negotiations with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
“This is a crucially important decision where consensus among Allies has emerged gradually over the last few months,” Lord Robertson stated in his Announcement on Enlargement.
