NATO Deputy Secretary General is awarded Lithuanian Diplomacy Star
On 15 January, the NATO Deputy Secretary General Alexander Vershbow was awarded the Lithuanian Diplomacy Star for his outstanding merits in supporting Lithuania’s full integration into NATO and ensuring the country’s security.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius conferred this award of honour on Vershbow during the ‘Snow Meeting’, which took place in Paunguriai, the district of Trakai. The meeting was attended by Lithuanian and foreign diplomats, analysts and experts in security policy and international affairs.
Vershbow took up his position in 2012. He supports sending extra allied troops to the Baltic States and the Alliance’s adaptation to the changing security environment.
The award of honour of Lithuania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs – the Lithuanian Diplomacy Star –was established in 2010. It is conferred on Lithuanian and foreign citizens and organizations for their outstanding merits in promoting Lithuania’s name, fostering and developing interstate relations.
