MUSIC LOVERS ARE INVITED TO HELP THE CHILDREN OF AFGHANISTAN
The Art Director and Conductor of Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra Goodwill Ambassador of the campaign ‘Time to Help Others’ Gintaras Rinkevičius invites to a special concert on 15 December in Vilnius Congress Concert Hall.
Music lovers can purchase not only ordinary tickets for the concert of the cycle ‘All the Symphonic works by G. Mahler’, but also special support tickets. The money raised by the concert will be donated to the children vaccination program in Ghor province of Afghanistan organized by UNICEF.
The event is a part of the national awareness raising campaign ‘Time to Help Others’, organized by Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the UN Development Program.
“Each of us can save at least one child of Afghanistan. Because vaccination of one child of Ghor province and his protection of illnesses costs only several litas,” Mr Rinkevičius Goodwill Ambassador of the campaign ‘Time to Help Others’ said.
Lithuania leads the reconstruction of Ghor province, which is one of the poorest provinces in Afghanistan. About 20 thousand children under two years old have no possibility to be vaccinated even against common epidemic diseases.
Lithuania as a donor country stands side by side with the states of the world which believe that joint efforts can help to reduce poverty, famine, social inequality and enmity. Striving for these goals Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the UN Development Program in Lithuania started a national awareness raising campaign ‘Time to Help Others’.
