MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS REQUESTS THE INSPECTOR OF MEDIA ETHICS AND THE ETHICS COMMISSION FOR JOURNALISTS AND PUBLISHERS TO EVALUATE AN ARTICLE
On 6 August, Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs addressed Inspector of Journalist Ethics Romas Gudaitis and the Ethics Commission for Journalists and Publishers regarding the article ‘Rabbis Rage in Lithuania’, which on 5 August was published in the ‘Ūkininko patarėjas’ newspaper. The article is signed by former Member of the Seimas (Parliament), Habilitated Doctor of Economic Sciences, and Professor of the Lithuanian University of Agriculture Jonas Čiulevičius.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs requests the Inspector of Journalist Ethics and the Ethics Commission for Journalists and Publishers to evaluate whether this article does not instigate ethnic and racial hatred, and whether its publication in the ‘Ūkininko patarėjas’ newspaper does not breach the rules of the Law on Provision of Information to the Public and media ethics.
The Ministry requests to take all action that is set out in the Lithuanian Law on Provision of Information to the Public, if violations were found.
