Ministry of Foreign Affairs pays tribute to the memory of deceased U.S. servicemen

On 1 April, the Leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, together with other Ministry staff, paid tribute to the memory of the members of the U.S. Contingent who perished in the lines of duty, during a U.S.-led exercise in Lithuania.

Hundreds of Lithuanians expressed their solidarity with the families of the deceased Soldiers and our closest allies at a call by the Lithuanian Rifle Association at the U.S. Embassy in Vilnius. By lighting memorial candles, we send the message that every soldier serving in Lithuania and contributing to the security of the region is our own.

The presence of U.S. forces in our region is not only a guarantee of Lithuania's security, but of the security of the entire transatlantic community. We are grateful for the leadership of the United States of America, which remains indispensable in ensuring peace and security in the Euro-Atlantic area and around the world.
