Minister of Foreign Affairs to attend NATO summit

On 24 June, Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys will attend the NATO summit in The Hague, the Netherlands, where the leaders of the 32 Alliance countries are expected to agree on an ambitious goal of increasing defence spending to 5% of GDP.

The meeting will also discuss NATO's capability development goals, which are individual for each country but respond to the Alliance's collective defence needs and are all aimed at deterring Russia. Another key topic at the Hague summit will be military support for Ukraine.

Minister K. Budrys will participate in the NATO-Ukraine Council meeting of foreign ministers and will also meet with German Foreign Minister Johann Vadephulu and Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation within NATO.

The minister will also join Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna and Romanian Defence Minister Angel Tilvar in a discussion on 'Making our Societies More Robust, Ready and Resilient' at the public diplomacy forum on the margins of the NATO summit.

The discussion will be broadcast live at 3 p.m. Lithuanian time on the NATO YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/live/wfPkiaiQPFw
