MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS IS TAKING PART IN THE EUROPEAN UNION INTERGOVERNMENTAL CONFERENCE AND THE EUROPEAN COUNCIL
On 13 December, in Lisbon, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Petras Vaitiekūnas with the delegation headed by Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus is taking part in the Intergovernmental Conference, during which leaders from the European Union Member States will sign the Reform Treaty (also known as the Treaty of Lisbon). On 14 December, Minister of Foreign Affairs with the delegation headed by the President will go to Brussels to take part in the European Council meeting. It is foreseen that the participants will discuss economical, social and environmental issues, examine the issues of justice and home affairs, external relations, as well as the enlargement of the EU. During the meeting, it is intended to approve the Declaration on globalization, which is drafted at the initiative of the United Kingdom.
