MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS CONDEMNS THE ANTI-SEMITIC ACT IN PANEVĖŽYS
On 18 May, Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius condemned the anti-Semitic act carried out in Panevėžys during which a swastika was painted on the doors of Panevėžys Youth school and the building of Jewish community of Panevėžys.
“I strongly condemn any acts carried out to artificially stir up tensions in Lithuanian society on the ethnic or any other basis. I have no doubt that the promoters and perpetrators of this outrageous act will be found and punished according to the Lithuanian laws as well as the suspects of the act of vandalism carried out in Vilnius, Subačius street, which is a subject to pre-trial investigation. Only by joining our common efforts and not being indifferent to any attempts to artificially sir up strife we will be able to establish traditions of tolerance and respect to human rights and prevent such acts from ever happening again“, - said L. Linkevičius.
