MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND BUSINESSMEN DISCUSS THE POLICY OF REPRESENTING LITHUANIA’S BUSINESS INTERESTS ABROAD
On 18 December during the meeting with Lithuanian businessmen, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Vygaudas Ušackas discussed the policy of representation and safeguarding of Lithuania’s business interests abroad, as well as directions of economic diplomacy.
Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius and Minister of Economy Dainius Kreivys took part in the meeting with the biggest Lithuanian exporters and investors abroad.
Foreign Minister and Economy Minister presented directions of economic diplomacy of the new Lithuanian Government. One of the major goals is to segregate functions of the institutions that are responsible for the development of export and investment, and, in this way, to avoid redundancy of these functions. For this purpose, two agencies will be established: investment promotion agency “Invest in Lithuania” and Lithuanian Trade Council.
Together with heads of companies, the members of the Government discussed best solutions for expressing and safeguarding business interests abroad, as well as they talked about the possibilities for further cooperation of businesses with the Ministries, while seeking out export markets.
During the meeting, it was agreed to hold regular consultation meetings of Lithuanian exporters and investors with the heads of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other respective governmental institutions.
