Minister Linkevičius congratulates his Polish counterpart on Independence Day
On 11 November, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius congratulated the Polish Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski and all the people of Poland on the Independence Day.
“Lithuania and Poland not only share centuries of history, but also current challenges and common interests. The strengthening of regional security through the implementation of decisions of NATO’s Summit in Warsaw, a common position on Russia’s aggressive actions, our countries’ co-ordinated and consistent support for the aspirations of the Eastern Partnership countries, and the development of joint energy and transport projects today – these are our most important tasks. Only by working hand in hand can we successfully deal with these challenges. Our shared history has proved that if we work together, we can achieve a lot,” said Linkevičius.
Lithuania’s Foreign Minister expressed his confidence that the bilateral relationship between Lithuania and Poland, as well as cooperation in international forums, would only intensify in the future.
Poland restored its independence on 11 November 1918, after 123 years of partitions.
