Minister Linkevičius Congratulated the State of Qatar on the Occasion of the National Day
On 18 December 2016, Linas Linkevičius, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania extended congratulations to Sheihkh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, Foreign Minister of the State of Qatar on the occasion of the National Day.
In his letter Mr Linkevičius said that we aspire to foster mutual cooperation between Lithuania and Qatar and stressed his conviction that moving of Qatari representation from Berlin to Warsaw will intensify further cooperation.
The Minister also reminded that in 2017 the countries will mark the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Lithuania. The diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on 25 November 1992.
Qatar National Day is celebrated annually on 18 December to mark the day when Sheikh Jassem bin Mohamed bin Thani came to the throne in 1878. Before 2007, Qatar National Day was celebrated on 3 September to mark the Independence declared in 1971.
