Minister L. Linkevičius expressed condolences to his French colleague over the tragedy in Nice
On 15 July, Linas Linkevičius, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, expressed his condolences to Jean Marck Ayrault, the French Minister of Foreign Affairs, over the tragic events in Nice. “We are shocked at this terrible tragedy and we sincerely condole with the families and relatives of the deceased and the victims. We express our solidarity and mourn together with the French nation. We stress that we must strengthen the fight against terrorism in a more robust manner and we are convinced that through joint effort we will resist these vile attacks against innocent people and the democratic values that we appreciate. We strongly condemn all manifestations of terrorism and senseless violence”, – stated Minister L. Linkevičius in his letter.
The Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not have any information on Lithuanian citizens having suffered during the mentioned attack.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs notes that before going to France it is advised to take precautionary actions, stay vigilant, also carefully follow and respect the advice of the French authorities. The state of emergency continues to be in place across France, border control has been introduced and the security has been enhanced.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs that the French airports and railway transport operate as normal. Tourists must always carry valid ID and travel documents with them.
