Minister L. Linkevičius congratulated his Icelandic colleague on National Day
On 17 June, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius congratulated the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iceland Guðlaugur Þór Þórðarson (Gudlaugur Thór Thórdarson) and all the people of Iceland commemorating their National Day and wished well-being and prosperity to all the country and its citizens.
In his congratulatory letter Minister L. Linkevičius noted that Iceland shall always have a special place in the hearts of Lithuanians for showing solidarity, courage and determination and for being the first country recognising the restoration of Lithuanian independence. It has already become a nice tradition on the Iceland’s National Day to gather in Islandijos street in Vilnius and to express our gratitude by saying "Thank you, Iceland!"
Linas Linkevičius expressed belief that close cooperation between Lithuania and Iceland, including concerted mutual efforts in regional and multinational organisations, shall only grow and help strengthen citizens' security and well-being.
