Minister discussed the EU-US trade deal with Lithuanian business representatives
On 30 July, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Kęstutis Budrys, met with Lithuanian business representatives to discuss relevant elements of the trade deal between the European Union and the United States of America.
During the meeting, the Minister emphasized that the EU-US deal succeeded in averting a trade war and stabilising transatlantic trade relations, securing greater clarity and predictability in trade conditions for businesses.
"The EU-US trade deal succeeded in capturing several key aspects for Lithuania, including increased imports of energy resources from the US, thus reducing Europe's dependence on Russian energy, and cooperation on economic security issues to address global challenges," the Minister said.
Minister Budrys emphasized that the normalization of transatlantic trade relations during this challenging geopolitical period was a significant step, contributing to the strengthening of relations between the EU and the US.
Agreed on 27 July, the EU-US trade deal was concluded at the political level between the US President Donald Trump and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. The full text version of the trade deal has not been announced yet.
