On 9 October, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a discussion of representatives from state institutions and businesses on the foreign dimension of Lithuania’s economic security policy. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kęstutis Budrys, presented the EU economic security policy trends and, together with the Minister of Economy and Innovation, Edvinas Grikšas, invited participants to discuss economic security policy coordination in Lithuania.
"Economic security is a priority area of foreign policy, which is why we are actively responding to geopolitical challenges in order to maintain both Lithuanian and EU industrial competitiveness, technological leadership, and a secure investment environment. Lithuania needs to have a clear and consistent coordination mechanism that allows for a comprehensive and effective response to changing geopolitical and technological challenges," said Budrys.
The Government Strategic Analysis Centre (STRATA) presented a study commissioned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Lithuania's critical technology ecosystem and trade dependencies in critical technology sectors. The discussion also covered how these insights could help shape a more effective and coordinated Lithuanian economic security policy.
