Minister Budrys awarded Ambassador Sarapinas and the former Honorary Consul in the U.S. state of Georgia, Klicius
On 7 July, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Kęstutis Budrys, conferred the honorary award of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania - Lithuania's Diplomacy Star - on Romualda Klicius, former Honorary Consul of Lithuania in the state of Georgia (U.S.A.), and the medal “For Merits at the Lithuanian Diplomatic Service” to Ambassador Valdemaras Sarapinas in Poland.
Klicius was awarded for her long-standing merits in strengthening bilateral political, cultural, and economic relations between Lithuania and the United States. Through to her efforts, close business cooperation between Lithuania and the United States was established in the states of Georgia, and Lithuania’s image enhanced there. During her tenure as Honorary Consul from 2006 to 2025, Klicius actively represented Lithuania's interests, nurtured Lithuanian culture, and mobilized and strengthened the Lithuanian community in Atlanta.
Ambassador Sarapinas received the medal “For Merits at the Lithuanian Diplomatic Service” for responsible and dedicated work in the Lithuanian diplomatic service in Ukraine, especially during the Russian aggression against this sovereign state.
“I have visited Ukraine four times since the beginning of my tenure. All the interlocutors I have met thanked Lithuania for its support and solidarity. The mark you have left as a Lithuanian diplomat in the hearts of the Ukrainian people, in the relationship between Lithuania and Ukraine is probably best embodied by the award given to you today ", the Foreign Minister Budrys told Ambassador Sarapinas.
Sarapinas served as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Lithuania in Ukraine from 2020 to 2024. Currently, he heads the Lithuanian Embassy in Warsaw.
