On 2-3 October, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania Giedrius Čekuolis was on a visit in Brussels, where in NATO Headquarters he met with Turkish, British and French Ambassadors to NATO, also with the US and Denmark Deputy Ambassadors to NATO. During the meetings, Foreign Undersecretary Čekuolis presented the forth Annual National Programme with a view to Lithuania’s preparation for NATO membership and spoke about the prospects of regional cooperation, Lithuania’s bilateral relations with neighbouring countries, activities of the Vilnius Group and Lithuanian measures against international terrorism.
On 3 October, Foreign Undersecretary Čekuolis took part in the International Conference „Prague 2002: Challenge and Change for NATO“ organised by the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation and hosted by the Transatlantic Centre of the German Marshall Fund of the United States.
In the Foreign Undersecretary’s opinion, the meetings have been an excellent opportunity for partners to share topical information on the Alliance’s preparations for the Prague Summit and on NATO efforts to adapt to the changing situation in the global security context.
