During a working visit in Chile on 27-28 October, Lithuanian delegation led by State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Evaldas Ignatavičius met with Chilean Viceminister of Foreign Affairs Cristian Barros, Director General of International Economic Relations Osvaldo Rosales, Director of the country’s Diplomatic Academy Rolando Stein and Chilean Senate President Andres Zaldivar Larrain.
At the meetings, the officials discussed bilateral Lithuanian-Chilean relations and perspectives of cooperation and exchanged opinions on the topical issues of the international and regional policy.
During the visit, the Lithuanian delegation also met representatives of the Chilean Producers’ Association and the leaders of the Chilean Chamber of Commerce and Tourism. An agreement of cooperation was signed between the latter and the Lithuanian Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts. The idea to sign a similar agreement between the countries’ Confederations of Industrialists was considered.
The visit was concluded by the opening of an honorary consulate of the Republic of Lithuania in Santiago.
