MFA SECRETARY MEETS DELEGATION OF CHINESE PEOPLE’S ASSOCIATION FOR FRIENDSHIP WITH FOREIGN COUNTRIES

On 18 August in Vilnius, Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the Republic of Lithuania Evaldas Ignatavičius received a delegation of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, led by the Association’s Deputy Chairman Su Guang. At the meeting, bilateral Lithuanian-Chinese relations in the fields of economy, culture and regional cooperation were discussed. During the conversation, the officials rejoiced over the growing volume of bilateral trade, ties in the spheres of culture and education as well as expanding cooperation between the states on municipal level. During his visit in China in the beginning of August, Vilnius Mayor Artūras Zuokas and Guangzhou (Canton) Mayor Zhang Guangning signed a memorandum on strengthening the bilateral cooperation. Vilnius became the third Lithuanian city, having a cooperation partner in China. This is already the second visit of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries delegation in Lithuania. Members of the Association first came to the country in August 2003. This year, the delegation is accompanied by over 20 Chinese businessmen looking for business partners in the Baltic States.
