On 14 February, a photo exhibition “Arctic Vision” that aims to deepen the understanding of the Arctic was opened at the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The exhibition, dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the reestablishment of diplomatic relations between Canada and Lithuania, was opened by Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Evaldas Ignatavičius and head of the Office of the Canadian Embassy in Vilnius Kevin David Hamilton.
The photo exhibition by Joshua See showcases photos of researchers’ everyday life in the Arctic: scientists contend with extreme weather, physical, arduous work and basic living conditions.
Encompassing nearly a quarter of the Arctic, Canada is a leading contributor to the fourth International Polar Year. This is an ambitious programme of scientific research on the Arctic and Antarctic. Its main focus is climate change impacts and adaptation of Northerners, which are the most pressing issues in the Canadian Arctic.
Canada and Lithuania re-established diplomatic relations on 2 September 1991.
