MEMORY OF THE EXILES WAS HONOURED IN MOSCOW

On 14 June, the Day of Mourning and Hope, the Embassy of Lithuania in Russia marked the solemn 70th anniversary of the beginning of mass deportations. In Moscow, employees of the Embassy in Moscow laid flowers honouring the memory of the exiles at the Solovki Stone, the memorial to the victims of the Soviet regime in Lubyanka Square.

The Solovki memorial stone was erected in Moscow in 1990 to honour all the victims of the totalitarian regime.

The Embassy of Lithuania in Moscow had also invited all members of the Lithuanian community in Russia to light a candle on 14 June and to lay flowers at memorial crosses and monuments for the exiles in various places in Russia, thus honouring the memory of the victims and once again commemorating the tragedy of the Lithuanian people.
