MAJORITY OF LITHUANIAN PEOPLE WOULD VOTE FOR NATO MEMBERSHIP

On February 7-10, public opinion and market research investigation centre "Vilmorus" performed a poll on the position of Lithuanian citizens towards NATO. The results of the poll indicated that 58,9 % of Lithuanian citizens would vote for Lithuania's NATO membership, 21,1 % would vote against and 20 % would abstain from voting. 60,2 % of those polled were positive about the possibility of Lithuania's invitation to join NATO, 21,5 % viewed this possibility negatively and 18,3 % were indifferent on the issue. Public opinion and market research investigation centre "Vilmorus" polled 1056 citizens in 18 towns and 56 settlements of Lithuania. The poll was ordered by the Lithuanian MFA.
