LITHUANIA’S STRATEGIC PARTNER POLAND TO PROTECT THE AIR SPACE OF THE BALTIC STATES

On 30 December Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Antanas Valionis took part in the NATO air policing mission takeover ceremony in Šiauliai. Polish air force will succeed the United States contingent that had been deployed in Lithuania since October.

Foreign Minister welcomed successful cooperation of NATO countries in the Baltic air policing mission.

Minister Valionis stressed that Poland, which takes over the air policing mission, is Lithuania’s strategic partner. Both countries share not only close political economic and cultural relations but also maintain contacts in military sphere. Lithuanian and Polish soldiers participate in peacekeeping operations together, the air policing mission experience will enrich  the cooperation.

The Head of Lithuanian diplomacy stated that successful Lithuanian-Polish cooperation strengthens region’s security and lays firm foundation for evolvement of democracy in the region.
