LITHUANIA’S SPECIAL REPRESENTATIVE IN GEORGIA DISCUSSED THE ISSUES OF RECONSTRUCTING THE COUNTRY WITH PATRIARCH OF ALL GEORGIA

On 3 September, Lithuania’s Special Representative in Georgia, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Laimonas Talat-Kelpša met with Patriarch of All Georgia His Holiness and Beatitude Ilya II and discussed with him the situation in Georgia as well as the tasks that the society of Georgia had to accomplish after becoming a target of aggression.

The Patriarch noted that the nations and religions had peacefully coexisted in Georgia for centuries and regretted that now there were obstacles for communication within the congregation.

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs L.Talat-Kelpša highlighted the particular significance for the citizens of Georgia to muse on the future and on the reconstruction of their country, while the West was ready to assist them in achieving this.

‘From the debris of this war Georgia can rise even more renovated and stronger economically, politically and spiritually. It would be a clear and unambiguous answer to the aggression and it would be a morally very strong European position,’ said the Undersecretary of the Ministry.
