LITHUANIA'S REPRESENTATIVES PARTICIPATE IN THE AMSTERDAM CONFERENCE ON REMEMBRANCE

On May 2-5, the Amsterdam Conference on Remembrance was held by the Task Force for International Cooperation on Holocaust Education, Remembrance, and Research. The Government of the Netherlands, which presides over the Task Force this year, has hosted the experts of the Vilnius Gaon Jewish Museum, the Museum of the 9th Fort of Kaunas and the Sugihara House (Kaunas) to exchange their work experience and plans of future cooperation with colleagues from other countries. The meetings of the Task Force also took place in Amsterdam during the Conference. For the first time Lithuania was invited to participate in these meetings as an observer. Alfonsas Eidintas, Ambassador at Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has represented Lithuania in the meetings. Ambassador Eidintas has presented the progress and problems of Lithuania in Holocaust Education. Lithuania had expressed its request to become a true member of the Task Force, and its participation in the Amsterdam Conference is an important step in this direction.
