LITHUANIA’S REFORMS EXPERIENCE – EXAMPLE FOR OTHER COUNTRIES
On 17 October Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Antanas Valionis met with the Director of Organization’s for Security and Cooperation in Europe Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights Ambassador Christian Strohal and discussed the activities of the office and its influence on the spread of democracy.
Ambassador Strohal emphasised that Lithuania’s reforms experience can be an example for other states and should be used.
During the conversation considerable attention was paid to Office’s for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights election observation activities. The election observation missions planned in the nearest future as well as the possibilities to observe the elections in Belarus next summer were discussed. Foreign Minister noticed that election observation is a very important measure for ensuring democracy and it should be expanded.
