LITHUANIA’S OSCE CHAIRMANSHIP WILL BE DISCUSSED IN KAZAKHSTAN

After a hundred days since Lithuania assumed the Chairmanship of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), the Lithuanian Embassy in Astana in cooperation with Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is organizing a discussion about this period on 21 April.

Foreign diplomats, residing in Kazakhstan, are invited to the event that is hosted by Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Lithuania Ambassador to Kazakhstan Rokas Bernotas will acquaint diplomats with Lithuania’s ongoing Chairmanship of the OSCE, will present the work that has been done and will discuss key challenges for the future.

The Lithuanian Chairmanship of the OSCE is based on the following priorities: to contribute to the progress in settling protracted conflicts, to strengthen efforts in the fight against transnational threats within the OSCE space, to promote media freedom, tolerance through education and to formulate general principles for energy security, as well as to promote regional cooperation.

Lithuania took over the year-long Chairmanship of the OSCE from Kazakhstan on 1 January.
