LITHUANIA’S MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS WILL PAY A VISIT TO MOSCOW
On 29-30 October, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Vygaudas Ušackas is paying a visit to Moscow, where he will meet with Russia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov.
The Ministers intend to discuss issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation: possibilities to strengthen the legal basis for cooperation between Lithuania and Russia, mutual economic relations, regional cooperation at the Council of the Baltic Sea States, also the upcoming Lithuania’s Chairmanship of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in 2011 and the preparation to take part in the activities of the OSCE troika from 1 January 2010.
In Moscow, Minister V.Ušackas will confer the honorary award of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs “The Star of Lithuania’s Millennium” on director of contemporary Lithuanian theatre Rimas Tuminas, who currently heads the Vakhtangov State Academic Theatre in Moscow. This honorary award is conferred on persons for their special merits of promoting the name of Lithuania in the world.
In Moscow, Minister V.Ušackas will attend a charity concert “Vilnius-Moscow” that is organised jointly by Lithuania and Russia. During the concert, well-known opera singers of the Lithuanian opera will perform, as well as the orchestra and choir of the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. All money raised will be used for the Lithuanian and Russian children suffering from oncological diseases.
