LITHUANIA’S MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS RECEIVED THE SAUDI ARABIAN AMBASSADOR
On 30 November, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Vygaudas Ušackas received Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Abdul Rahman S. Al Hadlg, who presented his credentials to President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė today. During the meeting, the Minister noted that the appointment of the first ambassador of this central Persian Gulf country to Lithuania would provide an excellent possibility to strengthen political and cultural ties between the two countries and would break ground for the development of economic relations.
“Lithuania appreciates the role of Saudi Arabia in pursuing peace and stability in the Middle East and values Saudi Arabia as an important partner in the region,” Minister V.Ušackas said during the meeting.
The Ambassador of Saudi Arabia expressed satisfaction about the possibilities that open up with the appointment of the first representative of Saudi Arabia to the Baltic States and promised to pay a lot of attention to the development of bilateral relations, especially in the areas of economic and academic cooperation.
Head of Lithuania’s diplomacy invited Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister, Prince Saud Al Faisal Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud to visit Lithuania.
Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador resides in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Ambassador Ginutis Dainius Voveris, who resides in Cairo, represents Lithuania in Saudi Arabia. He presented credentials to Saudi Arabian King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on 10 January 2009. Lithuania and Saudi Arabia established diplomatic relations on 31 October 2005.
