LITHUANIA’S MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS MET WITH THE LITHUANIANS LIVING IN TILSIT
On 27 December, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Vygaudas Ušackas visited the Lithuanian community living in Sovetsk (Tilsit). During the visit to the Kaliningrad Region, the Minister participated in the Mass in the Roman Catholic Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Sovetsk (Tilsit), met with the Lithuanian community, members of Lithuanian cultural society “Birutė“, and the members of the Kaliningrad Region Association of Teachers of Lithuanian Language.
V.Ušackas opened an exhibition presenting books and reproductions of pictures, that belonged to Lithuanian writer and philosopher Vydūnas.
During his visit to Sovetsk (Tilsit), the Minister was accompanied by Ms Radvilė Morkūnaitė, , and Mr Arvydas Daunoravičius, Director of the Department of National Minorities and Lithuanians Living Abroad under the Government of the Republic of Lithuania.
Currently over eighteen thousand Lithuanians reside in Kaliningrad Region.
