LITHUANIA’S MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS INVITES THE OMANI PEOPLE TO INVEST IN LITHUANIA
On 14 September at a meeting with Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaid, who is paying a visit to Vilnius, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis assured him that Oman was Lithuania’s important partner in the Persian Gulf region and invited the Omani people to invest in Lithuania.

On 15 September at the meeting with Lithuania’s Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Asta Skaisgirytė Liauškienė, opportunities for development of bilateral economic and political relations, and cooperation within the United Nations were discussed. A lot of attention was dedicated to the discussion on the Middle East peace talks, as well as on the situation in Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan.
Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaid and Vice-Minister A.Skaisgirytė Liauškienė signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the Establishment of a Bilateral Consultations Mechanism between Lithuania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman.
A Memorandum of Understanding between the Association of Lithuanian Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Crafts and the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry was also signed at Lithuania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Today at Vilnius University, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaid will give a lecture “Modern Oman and its Foreign Policy in the Context of the Dialogue of Civilizations” in the Small Hall (Mažoji aula) at 4:00 p.m.
A meeting of Lithuanian and Omani businessmen will also be held in Vilnius. This meeting will focus on business cooperation opportunities.
On 16 September in Vilnius, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman will hold meetings with Lithuania’s Minister of Energy, the Minister of Transport and Communications and the Minister of Agriculture. This is the first official visit of Omani high-ranking official to Lithuania. Lithuania established diplomatic relations with Oman in 1992.
