LITHUANIA’S MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS CONGRATULATED AFGHANISTAN’S FOREIGN MINISTER
On 19 January, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Vygaudas Ušackas sent a congratulatory letter to Afghanistan’s new Foreign Minister Zalmay Rasul.
Minister V.Ušackas wished success for Minister Z.Rasul in carrying out his important duties and assured Lithuania’s support for the aspirations of Afghanistan’s people to restore peace, stability, security in the country and its wellbeing.
Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs noted that diplomatic relations between Lithuania and Afghanistan, which were re-established in 2005, were constantly being developed and that Lithuania, the country that leads the Provincial Reconstruction Team in Afghanistan’s Ghor province, was contributing to the creation and maintaining of security and stability in this province and in entire Afghanistan.
Z.Rasul, former security adviser of Afghanistan’s President Hamid Karzai, was approved as foreign minister by the Parliament of Afghanistan on 16 January.
