LITHUANIA’S MFA WILL CONTINUE TO HELP DEVELOPING TIES OF LITHUANIA’S BUSINESS WITH COMPATRIOTS LIVING ABROAD
On 13 October in Vilnius, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis and representatives from the Lithuanian Business Confederation | ICC Lithuania discussed mutual cooperation in developing the activities of the World Lithuanian Economic Forum.
The Foreign Minister received the acknowledgements from President of the Lithuanian Business Confederation | ICC Lithuania Valdas Sutkus to Lithuania’s Embassy in the United Kingdom for “its efforts to strengthen ties between Lithuania’s business community and Lithuanian businessmen, career professionals, who study and work in the United Kingdom”.During the meeting at Lithuania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the participants assessed the results of the event of the World Lithuanian Economic Forum in Vilnius in 2009 and of this year’s event in London. They also discussed ways to further effectively develop the business network of Lithuanians living abroad and possibilities to organize similar forums.
The Foreign Minister trusts that the objectives raised by the World Lithuanian Economic Forum are being successfully implemented. According to the Foreign Minister, the events organized by the forum in this year and in the last year had concrete results, which demonstrated this.
Such events help to create a global network of the Lithuanian business, to enhance the visibility of Lithuania’s economy and an overall approach to Lithuania, as well as possibilities that are opening up for businesses, and to make direct business contacts.
The Foreign Minister added that Lithuania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs valued the very fruitful cooperation with the Lithuanian Business Confederation | ICC Lithuania and that Lithuania’s diplomatic service was actively contributing to the organization of the World Lithuanian Economic Forum events and was prepared to remain its key partner in the future.
The aim of the World Lithuanian Economic Forum is to involve world Lithuanians — businessmen and economics experts — into Lithuania’s economic life, to strengthen their emotional ties with Lithuania and to encourage them to expand their business here and to attract foreign capital to Lithuania.
On 4 October in London, the Lithuanian Business Confederation | ICC Lithuania signed cooperation agreements with the Lithuanian Chamber of Commerce in the United Kingdom, Lithuanian Youth Union in the UK, and Lithuanian City of London Club. A discussion on the Lithuanian-UK business cooperation opportunities was also organized.
On June 22 in London, Lithuania’s Embassy in the United Kingdom, the Lithuanian Youth Union in the UK, Lithuanian City of London Club and the Lithuanian Business Confederation | ICC Lithuania held a forum entitled “High tech innovation and investment: local to global”. The event was attended by more than 200 business representatives from Lithuania, the United Kingdom, the United States of America and Brazil.
