Lithuania’s investment attractiveness remains high despite a changed geopolitical environment
On 6 October, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis attended the Foreign Investors' Annual Summit 2022, which was organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Lithuania. The Foreign Minister participated in a special Q&A Session and answered questions about Lithuania’s investment attractiveness, emerging threats and risks, as well as the diplomatic service’s contribution to attracting foreign investments to Lithuania.
“Economic and geopolitical changes began already in the last decade. When turbulence ends, the reality will be totally different. Despite all geopolitical shocks, Lithuania is a member of the strongest defensive format. It’s not just about ensuring security of our country, it’s about ensuring security of all our partners. Lithuania is as safe as any other member of NATO. Lithuania is a safe place for your investments," Landsbergis said.
Despite the war in Ukraine and security threats, foreign companies continue to be established in Lithuania, while the already operating ones are developing. In the first half of 2022, Lithuania attracted 31 investment project. In 2021, almost fifty such projects were attracted. Representatives of the U.S. companies have repeatedly highlighted that Lithuania was doing a good job addressing the challenges and that it was a great place to start and to expand a business. This is also evidenced by the actions of other countries. Nigeria has already opened its embassy in Lithuania, while Canada and India are planning to do so in the near future. In addition, Australia will establish a trade mission.
