Lithuania's Honorary Consulate officially opened in Mikkeli
On 9 June, a ceremonial opening of the Lithuanian Honorary Consulate for Finland’s South Savo Region took place in Mikkeli.
Since 2024, the position of Honorary Consul in the Region has been held by Hannu Antero Savisalo, founder and executive chairman of the Finnish company Savcor Oy, a long-standing friend and business partner of Lithuania.
The opening ceremony was attended by Lithuanian Ambassador to Finland Edvilas Raudonikis and Embassy staff, Mikkeli Mayor Janne Kinnunen, Municipal Council Chairman Oskari Valtola, Board Chairman Pekka Pöyry, South Savo Regional Mayor Heini Utunen, and Mikkeli City Council member Kati Häkkinen.
During the event, the Ambassador presented Lithuania’s current political and economic affairs and highlighted Honorary Consul H. Savisalo’s contributions to strengthening Lithuania–Finland cooperation.
Lithuanian Commercial Attaché Kristupas Stankus introduced the event's participants to Lithuania’s efforts in attracting foreign investment.
The activities of the Lithuanian Honorary Consulate in the South Savo Region will open up new opportunities to develop Lithuania–Finland cooperation in the fields of business, culture, and the preservation of historical memory.
