Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister visits Estonia, discusses bilateral issues, energy and transport projects
On 5 November, Lithuania’s Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Rolandas Kriščiūnas visited Tallinn, where he met with Undersecretaries of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia Väino Reinart and Mart Laanemäe and discussed EU agenda, security and development cooperation.
During the political consultations the officials also discussed the situation in Ukraine, their countries’ reaction to Russian restrictions on the import of agricultural and food products from the EU, the implementation of energy and transport infrastructure projects.
The Vice-Minister noted that there should be no easing of sanctions against Russia until it withdraws from Ukraine and stops pressuring Eastern Partnership countries.
R.Kriščiūnas also called for more intense cooperation in the field of energy for creating a regional internal energy market and integrating into European networks.
The liquefied natural gas terminal in Klaipėda provides the possibility for Estonia to diversify its natural gas supplies already in 2015,” said R.Kriščiūnas
Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister thanked Estonia for its support to Lithuania’s goal of joining the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and for sharing its own accession experience.
